Cindy's Inspiring Journey: A "40 Over 40" Fashion Photoshoot Celebration
At 76 years old, Cindy's life is a testament to resilience, adventure, and the power of community. Recently, she was a part of a glamorous fashion photoshoot that will be featured as part of our 40 Over 40 Project, in which we are photographing 40 women over the age of 40 and sharing their stories. The project aims to celebrate the beauty, wisdom, and unique stories of incredible women in Southern Oregon, just like Cindy.
Words of Wisdom
When asked what piece of advice she would give to her 24-year-old self, Cindy shared heartfelt guidance:
"Finish college and go traveling outside this country to learn more about the world out there! Go on an adventure with friends in nature and see the beauty of another place! Don’t be quick to make a lifetime commitment! You have time."
Her words echo a lifetime of experiences and the understanding that the world is vast and filled with opportunities. Cindy's advice underscores the importance of education, exploration, and patience—values that have shaped her journey.
A Life-Changing Experience
Cindy's path was profoundly influenced by a life-changing experience when she was just 22 years old. As a young mother, she faced the heart-wrenching news that her firstborn son was diagnosed with a rare, incurable disease. This moment marked a pivotal turning point in her life.
"My life changed forever. I became his advocate, got involved in the local, then regional and national organizations to demand better care. I began doing public speaking which led me into my eventual career in social work," Cindy recalled.
Her son's diagnosis ignited a fierce determination within her, transforming her into a passionate advocate and a voice for those in need. Through her efforts, Cindy not only became a devoted mother but also a social work professional, dedicated to making a difference in the lives of others.
A Day of Glamour and Fun
The fashion photoshoot was a delight for Cindy. Stepping into our photo studio, she was greeted with warmth and excitement. The fun began with getting her hair and makeup done by our makeup artist who made her feel like a star. Each stroke of the brush and touch of the curling iron added to the anticipation of the shoot.

Trying on different gowns and outfits was another highlight of the experience. Our studio offers a stunning array of choices, from elegant evening gowns to chic, contemporary pieces. Cindy enjoyed every moment, twirling in front of the mirror and feeling the fabric flow around her. Each outfit brought out a different facet of her personality, showcasing her vibrant spirit.
